Managed comprehensive online marketing program for this leading global scientific and technical publisher that publishes over a thousand new books a year across a variety of disciplines
I was the first Web & Social Media Marketing Manager at CRC Press, responsible for managing the web and social media content for this international, academic publisher.
They were primarily a print mail house when I arrived, and on the cusp of launching a new website. I managed and worked closely with their web team to taking their new ecommerce site, CRCPress.com, through beta and it’s ultimate debut online. I also worked with the copywriting manager to develop the marketing content pages for the new site.
In addition to managing their comprehensive ecommerce site, which includes thousands of titles, I also had an opportunity to develop a few sites that were dedicated to individual titles that held a lot of promise, including the You Can Count on Monsters site, and a companion site for Physical Properties of Materials.
Along with these projects came a need to standardize their email marketing efforts and the publisher’s social media efforts. I was deeply involved in developing their email marketing program, using MagnetMail, and was also integral in getting the press up on the social media outlets.
I have also included links to some of the videos I compiled for our budding author video program, which was successful in drawing a lot of attention to the titles, authors and editors.
HIGHLIGHTS

- Oversaw Starmark vendor promotion of CRC Press’ Amazon bestseller, You Can Count on Monsters
- Managed email, distributed postcards, coordinated podcast at BEA book signing for popular and timely title, Health Care Will Not Reform Itself
ECOMMERCE SITE/CONTENT MANAGEMENT
- Collaborated with Web Dev team on design/functionality of ecommerce and companion sites
- Suggested enhancements and identified bugs through Jira and Bugzilla as product owner for sites
- Composed project user briefs and specs and participated in beta and other testing
- Wrote, edited, and deployed web content for sites using Opensource CMS, Alfresco
- Authored internal Alfresco SOPs and training documents and assisted with internal training
- Worked with copywriting team to ensure all electronic content was current & seamlessly branded
EMAIL MARKETING
- Developed email process and related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Proofed, tested and sent promotional HTML and text emails
- Trained members of department on using MagnetMail and the process I established to minimize grammatical, spelling, factual or other errors from occurring
- Tracked all aspects of emails, including subject success, open and click-through rates (CTRs), and
sales associated with email promotion codes
SOCIAL MEDIA
